A certified Spanish teacher passionate about helping women feel confident, supported and connected while learning Spanish through a warm, feminine learning experience.
Hola, I’m Leila — the founder of Unlocking Spanish
Unlocking Spanish was born from a very clear vision:
to create a warm, safe and uplifting space where women can learn Spanish, make friends and feel at home in Spain.
When I started teaching, I noticed something beautiful:
✨ women learned better together
✨ they felt more relaxed and confident
✨ groups quickly became friendships
✨ Spanish became part of their daily lives
Very soon, I realised I didn’t just want to teach Spanish…
I wanted to build a women’s community.
That’s how Unlocking Spanish began —
and that same vision still guides every lesson today.

Leila García
Founder & Head Teacher
I’m a native Spanish speaker with a high level of English, a Degree in Hispanic Philology and a Master’s in Teaching Spanish.
I have over 5 years of experience teaching Spanish both online and in person, and I’ve also collaborated on Spanish-teaching projects for refugees and worked with American schools and educational programmes.
What truly sets my teaching apart is the genuine care and patience I show to each student who walks into my class. I truly appreciate every woman who joins, and I focus on building real connections. When my students feel valued and supported, Spanish flows naturally, and many leave not only with stronger language skills but with lasting friendships.
Katie Toner
Spanish Teacher
Katie is British but grew up in the south of Spain, which makes her fully bilingual in English and Spanish. She is a qualified translator and interpreter with a strong academic background.
She has taught Spanish in Taiwan and Japan, prepared students for the DELE exams, and taken part in international educational and cultural exchange programmes.
Katie stands out for her patience, warmth and calm teaching style. She is deeply loved by her students and has a natural ability to make Spanish feel approachable, natural and enjoyable.
